Undernutrition is an independent risk factor for the occurrence of postoperative morbidity/mortality
and longer length of hospital stay which generated increased hospital costs in cancer
patients [

]. Therefore, energy and protein support should be provided perioperatively in undernourished
patients to prevent a further deterioration of nutritional status after surgery when
an inadequate food intake and an increased muscle catabolism can be expected [
