Introduction: Pancreatic cancer is the tenth most common cancer in The UK. Over 33% of patients
have distant metastasis at diagnosis [1]. NICE guideline [NG85] states that patients
with pancreatic cancer having surgery should undergo pre-operative FDG-PET/CT (PET-CT)
for staging [2]. A study by Farma et al showed 11% of patients with pancreatic cancer
had a change to their management as PET-CT detected metastasis not identified by standard
protocols [3]. This audit assessed if patients were undergoing a preoperative PET-CT
as per NICE guidelines.
