Factors influencing preoperative USS and Sestamibi imaging for gland localisation in parathyroidectomies for primary hyperparathyroidism

      Introduction: Primary hyperparathyroidism is a common endocrine disorder with a prevalence of 1 in 500 women and 1 in 2,000 men. It is the most common cause of hypercalcaemia in non-hospitalised patients. Surgical removal of the responsible parathyroid gland is the primary curative treatment.
