Background: Cancer and diabetes mellitus (DM) are leading causes of death worldwide and the
incidence of both is ever-increasing. People with both diseases are at increased risk
of poorer health outcomes (1). Reasons for this are unclear but may include poorer
DM monitoring and self-management, and suboptimal treatment of DM and/or cancer, leading
to worsened glycaemic control.
